Miura City

Miura city is located on the southernmost part of the Miura peninsula, which is surrounded by the Tokyo bay, the Sagami bay and the Pacific Ocean. Miura city is situated at 35°08’39” N lat. and 139°37’13” E long. and covers 32 km2.

On January 1, 1955, two towns and one village combined into one city and became Miura city. The population of Miura city as of October 1, 2014 is 45,000 with 17,800 families residing there. Most of the peninsula(the city region) is the plateau of  40 – 60 m above sea level, and small valley-like terrains are intricated there. The highest peak is Mt. Iwado with an elevation of 82.4 m, which is the lowest peak in the whole Kanagawa Prefecture. 37% of the peninsula is vegetable farmland.
